Summary

A return from the past knocks a family dangerously off-balance in a novel of spiraling suspense by Washington Post and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Minka Kent。

Merritt Coletto and her husband, Luca, have the life they dreamed of: a coastal home, a promising future, and a growing family。 That dream ends with a late-night knock on the door。

Weak, broken, and emaciated, it’s Luca’s first wife, Lydia。 Missing for ten years, presumed dead, and very much alive, she has quite a story。 Her kidnapping。 A torturous confinement that should’ve ended with her dead。 And finally, escape。 Racked with guilt over the beautiful life they’ve built, Merritt and Luca agree to help get Lydia back on her feet—it’s the least they can do。

But the more enmeshed Lydia becomes in Merritt’s family, the more questions Merritt has。 What is it about Lydia that’s especially unnerving? Why hasn’t she gone to the police with her harrowing tale? What does she really want of them? The answers, when they come, are terrifying。

Because Lydia isn’t the only one with secrets。

3 stars bc thrillers aren’t my thing… but if they WERE, this is a good one。 This book was SO twisted。 I’manticipating nightmares in my future。 Kat, if you’re reading this, no more thrillers for book club!!!!

Honestly when I first started this book I thought it was going to be something else。 There’s lots of twists and turns which I enjoyed but I feel like some of the story is touch and go and rushed。 It’s a solid thriller and a nice quick read tho。

Wow! The Story Sucks You In From The First Page & Keeps You Guessing Until The Very End。 Just as the story builds to what you assume will be the conclusion and you wonder how it will resolve the twist comes and you wonder how that never occurred to you。 Well worth a read。

Wow。 This book was Intense!I love a good book that keeps you on your toes。The story of Merritt and Luca seems straightforward and pretty normal until Lucas first wife who was missing and presumed dead for ten years shows back up。Lydia seems to want something from Luca and Merritt but we don’t know what, until we do and wow what a twist!I could not put this book down! If you like mystery thriller style books this one was amazing!

This was a quick read and I really enjoyed it! There were a few plot twists, which I always love, and the writing was incredible! It was insanely descriptive, but the details only added to the storyline。 Kind of mad at the ending… a sequel is needed for sure。

Couldn't Put This DownFrom the very beginning, I was taken by the pace of the story。 Wham! I completely didn't see the twist that came and down to the very end, I didn't want to stop。 Couldn't Put This DownFrom the very beginning, I was taken by the pace of the story。 Wham! RE: Pleasantly Surprised People Magazine mentioned this title and I looked into it, finding it included in Kindle Unlimited。 I haven’t put it down since。 No spoilers, so don’t panic。 This piece is not a stereotypical domestic thriller with predictable elements。 It includes some interesting plot twists, is well-written, and does not inundate readers with excessive details that are not essential in painting the picture at hand。 This is the first book I’ve read by Minka Kent, but I do not believe i RE: Pleasantly Surprised People Magazine mentioned this title and I looked into it, finding it included in Kindle Unlimited。 I haven’t put it down since。 No spoilers, so don’t panic。 This piece is not a stereotypical domestic thriller with predictable elements。 It includes some interesting plot twists, is well-written, and does not inundate readers with excessive details that are not essential in painting the picture at hand。 This is the first book I’ve read by Minka Kent, but I do not believe it will be the last。 。。。more

This is one of the best mysteries I have ever read! The final paragraphs of the book add to the mystery。 Luca is married to Lydia and she disappears。 In the meantime Luca marries Merritt and have a wonderful life。 They purchase a beautiful home, have 2 children and own 7 thriving restaurants。 While Luca is away on business, a visitor appears at their home and it is Lydia。 This book has twists and turns and you can not put it down。 An excellent story!!

Lori

This book was so promising for the first half but then it all fell apart。 Unbelievable characters, unbelievable story。

Diane Hidey

Definitely suspenseful。 A couple of things make you go huh??? I went with it and chose to not overthink it。 I ignored my ‘no way that could’ve happened’ And that’s why I enjoyed the book!

Pao B

Extremely fast paced and full of twists just like all of her books— they take me more to an 2 sittings, they’re so good

Sue

First read after a long hiatus and it was just ok。 The storyline is good with a few plot twists but didn’t really feel anything for any of the characters。 I found that the personalities of each of the two women were a little inconsistent, and at times, corny。 A quick read :)

Never saw that comingThis Book was a BANGER。。 I never EVER expected this to turn out this way。。 My mind was BLOWN。。 I enjoy This Author。。 And will ABSOLUTELY read more from her。。 WOWWWW。

Unmissing: A Thriller IndeedHey guys if you think this is like a romance/love story then you couldn’t be more wrong。 This novel is one of the best books I’ve read in quite some time。 It has twists and turns that took me totally by surprise。 Sinister minds are definitely at work throughout the story。 My hat is off to you Minka Kent。

Minka has done it again!Outstanding read! I must have finished it in one or two days。 This author has moved up on my list and vastly become one of my all time favs。 This book took me on a trip and kept me in suspense throughout。 It was far from predictable。 There were parts of the story where I wasn't sure who to be mad at, although I can say Delphine was a true angel。 The worlds needs more kind hearted people like her。 Minka has done it again!Outstanding read! Wow!I've been trying to explore my book options in Kindle Unlimited-- and I was not prepared to like this book as much as I did。 I would consider it an easy read, fairly fast paced, and I genuinely was surprised at the twists at the end。 I thought this story line was clever too, and not over done in thrillers。 I could understand and sympathize with both of the female characters (Lydia and Merritt) which was nice。This book is a fun thriller that's a quick read。 I recommend it! I love a thriller that can keep you on your toes and Unmissing by Minka Kent did just that! Merritt and Luca seem to have the ideal marriage with their second baby only weeks away from being born。 But, things take a turn when Luca’s presumed dead wife, Lydia, comes a-knockin’ with quite the story to tell。 What could possibly go wrong?Told in both Merritt and Lydia’s POV, we learn what life was like for Lydia in the nine years that she has been missing, which left me with a lot of questions and b I love a thriller that can keep you on your toes and Unmissing by Minka Kent did just that! But, then Kent twisted the script and I was back to square one again with many more questions needing answers。 Ugh!I will admit, I do love a story where I hate every single character and both Merritt and Lydia are not exactly very likable and I kept going back and forth between like and dislike for both of them。 Another plus while reading this story was the very short chapters which I absolutely love。 The story is incredibly engaging and will keep you on your toes as you flip through the pages needing to know how it all ends。If you love a story with questionable characters, a twisted tale and mystery just begging to be solved, then you definitely will want to Unmissing by Minka Kent 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 An interesting read, although none of the three main characters were actually likable。 Merritt and Luca Colleto are living a life of luxury when Luca’s first wife who was missing for 10 years and was presumed dead, suddenly reappears。 At first you think she is there to try to get her husband back, until it is revealed that she is actually trying to extort him for money。 Then it is revealed that Luca was actually the one keeping her captive, raping, abusing, and torturing her for nine years。 What An interesting read, although none of the three main characters were actually likable。 Merritt and Luca Colleto are living a life of luxury when Luca’s first wife who was missing for 10 years and was presumed dead, suddenly reappears。 At first you think she is there to try to get her husband back, until it is revealed that she is actually trying to extort him for money。 Then it is revealed that Luca was actually the one keeping her captive, raping, abusing, and torturing her for nine years。 What doesn’t make any sense at all is why she is not afraid of him, she is trying to extort him after all, even getting a job working for his company, and why she is not going to the police。 This is some simply unbelievable which is why I docked a star from the review。 And in perhaps the biggest twist, it is revealed that Merritt was actually very involved in Lydia‘s abduction all along。 That she actually was quite the sociopath herself。 She ends up killing Luca and trying to burn the farmhouse down that he and Lydia are in, but of course Lydia survives and then turns Merritt into the police。 。。。more

Great read! The book got off to a slightly slow start but then totally surprised me。 A lot of twists and turns。 Ended up being a really good read!

Short chapters, interesting characters , suspenseful plot, lots of twists。 Will be one of my favorites

In the minority on this one! Didn’t work for me。 After starting with action, this slowed down quite a bit and didn’t pick up the pace until ~60% Didn’t like the characters or pacing 。

Good reading with twists and turnsEasy to read - hard to put down。 A triangle of twists and turns! Interesting characters who keep you guessing who was the most evil。 Somewhat predictable ending once all the characters are "exposed" but worth reading。 Good reading with twists and turnsEasy to read - hard to put down。 A triangle of twists and turns!
